Kelly Clarkson has had a few public relationships since she became famous. Why isn’t she friends with any of her exes? Keep reading for all the details.

Kelly Clarkson’s Dating History

Kelly Clarkson will go down in history as the first winner of Fox’s singing competition American Idol. Since her 2002 win, she’s expanded her singing career into hosting her own daytime talk show.

Despite being in the public eye for over twenty years, Kelly Clarkson has had only a handful of public romances. Her divorce from Brandon Blackstock continues to make headlines as they battle it out in court.

But she had a few romances before marrying the talent manager. Rumors swirled during American Idol that she was dating Justin Guarini, who came in second place.

The two starred in the rom-com musical From Justin to Kelly after appearing on American Idol, further sparking rumors of a romance. According to Life & Style, Kelly confirmed on Watch What Happens Live that the two did date, just not when fans thought they did.

Kelly Clarkson also dated Graham Colton, David Hodges, and Ryan Key before marrying Brandon Blackstock.

She hasn’t dated anyone publicly since her divorce, though fans are rooting for her to find love.

Kelly Clarkson Reveals Why She’s Not Friends With Exes

Kelly Clarkson filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in 2020 after seven years of marriage. However, it took another two years of fighting in court before the divorce was finalized.

The “Since U Been Gone” singer has never publicly revealed what caused the split, but it’s clear it wasn’t an amicable split.

In fact, Kelly Clarkson isn’t friends with any of her exes. Why not?

She shared the surprising fact during a chat with rapper Common on an episode of her talk show. Common, who is dating American Idol‘s Jennifer Hudson, said that he’s friends with several of his ex-girlfriends.

He asked Kelly Clarkson if she’s friends with her exes. The talk show host whispered, “No,” before breaking out in laughter.

She clarified that she is on good terms with a few of her exes, calling them “cool people.”

However, she said it’s a “hard pass” for others. While she didn’t specifically say which category her ex-husband falls in, it’s likely he’s a hard no for her.

“I just feel like it can get awkward. It depends on who ended it or who it is,” she explained her stance on the issue.
