Kacey Musgraves dropped her title track and the video to that title track today, February 8, 2024. In addition to that, the “Love Is A Wild Thing” singer announced her latest LP will be released later this year on March 15th. Included in that LP is a song that paints an ex-boyfriend(or the ex-husband) of Musgraves’ in a less-than-flattering light.

Kacey Musgraves’ Potentially Shady Song

The song that could be casting shade on a former boyfriend is titled “Deeper Well.” The lyrics tell the tale. “So I’m saying good-bye to the people that I feel are real good at wastin’ my time,” Kacey Musgraves sings. “No regrets, baby, I just think that maybe / You go your way and I’ll go mine.” The song goes on and points out how the former boyfriend had “dark energy.”

Which Ex-Boyfriend Did Kacey Musgraves Sing About?

Kacey Musgraves was not exactly clear about which ex-boyfriend she is currently singing about. The “Follow Your Arrow” singer has had more than one ex she could be singing about in her new single.

Kacey Musgraves was once married to Rustin Kelley. The two of them met in 2016. Musgraves and Kelley married only a year later in 2017. This marriage ended in divorce in 2020, after only three years of marriage.

After Kacey Musgraves’ divorce from Rustin Kelley, she was with Dr. Gerald Onuoha. After their brief relationship, the “Dime Store Cowgirl” singer was romantically linked to Cole Schafer. The relationship with Musgraves and Schafer lasted about two years. It appears Schafer was not a fan of living in the limelight brought about by a country music superstar.

COVID’s Impact On Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves admitted to how COVID had an impact on her. The “Pageant Material” singer said the world-wide pandemic made her “face the truth” when she was forced to ask herself some of the tough questions.

Even though Kacey Musgraves felt like she was “on top of the world” when it came to her career, she didn’t not feel the same way about her personal life. Musgraves admitted she felt as if she was “dying inside.” The country music superstar went on to say “I was crumbling. I was sad. I felt lonely. I felt broken.”
