Superstar Beyoncé is preparing to drop her first country album. Dolly Parton teases one of her classic songs could be on it. Keep reading for all the details.
Beyoncé Shocks With Surprise Album News
Pop star, hip-hop artist, songwriter – these are all labels that fit superstar Beyoncé. She’s about to add another label that fans didn’t expect: Country artist.
During a commercial on Super Bowl Sunday in February, she announced that her next album would be in the country music genre. She’s dropped two singles so far from the upcoming album.
Some country radio stations initially refused to play the first single, “Texas Hold ‘Em.” They later relented after listeners kept requesting it. The song quickly hit #1 on iTunes.
The full album, called Act II, will be out in just a few weeks. Dolly Parton dropped a major clue about the tracklist.
A Dolly Parton Classic Could Make The Cut
Beyoncé has had a hand in writing many of the songs on her nine studio albums. But if Dolly Parton’s tea is correct, at least one song on the new album wasn’t written by the pop star.
Dolly Parton spoke to Knoxville News Sentinel ahead of the seasonal opening of Dollywood. The icon was asked if she would join Beyoncé on the album. Yes, and no.
According to Dolly Parton, she didn’t record a song WITH the superstar, despite being in touch with her through the years. However, she let it slip that Beyoncé may have recorded a classic Dolly song to add to the album.
“Well, I think she has! I think she’s recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that,” the “9 to 5” singer spilled.
The Nashville outlet speculated that Beyoncé may have sampled part of “Jolene” rather than record the whole song. However, no one will know until the country album comes out on March 29.
Unlike online haters, Dolly Parton showed her support for Beyoncé’s country album immediately. “I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album,” the country music icon wrote on social media. She went on to congratulate the pop artist for topping the country charts.
Beyoncé was the first Black woman to top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
