Country music legend Reba McEntire is ready to light up the stage at the 2024 ACM Awards. The iconic “Fancy” singer, 69, is preparing to host the award ceremony in Frisco, Texas. It will be her 17th time hosting the annual event.
Reba McEntire Shares Favorite Part Of Hosting ACM Awards
McEntire, who has held the title of most female artist of the year nominations in ACM history, is no stranger to the spotlight of live television.
“I like to go visit with everyone. I love live television,” McEntire told PEOPLE magazine. She added, “I get to sing a song, see what everybody else is promoting, their new material, but basically just to get to see my old friends and meet new people.”
Looking back at her first time hosting in 1985, Reba McEntire fondly remembers sharing the stage with TV stars Mac Davis and John Schneider. “Here I was, a little country singer from Oklahoma, getting to be with those two guys. I was thrilled to pieces,” she reflected.
Over the years, McEntire has had the privilege of sharing the stage with some of country music’s biggest stars as co-hosts, including George Strait, Randy Owen, Hank Williams Jr., Vince Gill, and Blake Shelton. “Every time is a new adventure,” she says. “I always look forward to it.”
But this year, she’ll be hosting it solo.

As for her approach to this year’s hosting gig, The Voice coach admits she still gets butterflies. “The adrenaline is running, and if you can make it those first two steps and get those first two or three sentences out, you loosen up — or I do anyway,” she explained.
To ensure a smooth performance, the “Seven Minutes In Heaven” singer has her routine down to a science. Despite her huge stardom, her demands are rather simple.
Her dressing room rider includes essentials like water, a trash can, tissues, a clock, and snacks to keep her energy levels steady. She quipped, “[There’s] no time for getting a little hangry. We don’t want to be that!”

In addition to hosting, Reba McEntire will take the stage to perform new material. Other performers at the 2024 ACM Awards include Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton and more artists.
