Billy Ray Cyrus Seeks Restraining Order Against Estranged Wife
Billy Ray Cyrus actually filed for divorce in May but it took a while for the news to go public. And the split got messy fast, just like a country song. He married Firerose in October 2023 after a few years of dating. They actually met over a decade ago on the Hannah Montana set. They reportedly began collaborating on writing songs during the COVID pandemic and romance blossomed.
He was previously married to Cindy Smith from 1986 until 1991 and Tish Cyrus, who he divorced in 2022 after almost 30 years of marriage.
Cyrus filed for an annulment from Firerose on the basis on fraud and marital misconduct. In Touch reports that he also wants a restraining order against his estranged wife. He claims in court documents that his ex has been using his credit cards and other money without permission.
She allegedly made almost forty unauthorized charges on his credit card between May and June of this year. They reportedly do not have any joint accounts. He claims that she has money of her own, including $500k in assets.
However, she denied that the charges were unauthorized. According to Page Six, her lawyers filed a response claiming that she was never restricted from using her estranged husband’s credit cards and shouldn’t be while they are still legally married.
Daughter Miley Speaks Out
Billy Ray Cyrus starred alongside his daughter, Miley, in Disney’s Hannah Montana from 2006 until 2011. However, their relationship reportedly suffered after his quickie wedding to Firerose. The father-daughter duo have allegedly been on the outs but now it seems that their relationship is on the mend. He recently shared a throwback photo of his daughter and wrote how proud he was of her.
A source close to the pop star told Us Weekly that there is hope for a reconciliation between the family members. “Miley, Noah, and their siblings really never understood the relationship and why Billy married her so abruptly,” the source revealed.
However, “Miley is hopeful this will give some peace to the family.” The source added that his daughter thinks the divorce is a “good step” for her dad.
The court has yet to rule on the restraining order but the split is sure to inspire some great lyrics.
