Country singer Kenny Chesney released his debut album in 1994. Thirty years later, he’s as popular as he ever was. He released his 20th studio album earlier this year and is in the middle of a huge tour. The singer abruptly canceled a recent show in Arizona. Is everything okay?
Kenny Chesney Releases 20th Studio Album
Kenny Chesney has certainly made his mark on the country music industry. He’s picked up multiple awards throughout his long career, including several ACM and CMT Awards. He’s been nominated for several Grammy Awards, and finally picked up a win for Best Opera Recording, proving his talents go beyond country music.
He released his 20th studio album, Born, in March and promptly headed out on an 18-date stadium tour.
Tour Date Abruptly Canceled, Why?
Kenny Chesney’s Sun Goes Down tour was scheduled to stop in Phoenix, Arizona, on July 24. Megan Moroney’s opening set went off without a hitch. However, Kenny Chesney was never able to make it to the stage. Why not?
As with any outdoor summer concert, weather can be unpredictable and wreak havoc on scheduled events. That’s what happened in Arizona. Concertgoers were informed to seek shelter with the hope that the storm would eventually pass.
However, when it became clear that it wouldn’t, the concert was abruptly canceled. Kenny Cheney’s team took to Twitter to share an update. The concert date was rescheduled for the very next night and refunds would be given to anyone who couldn’t make the new date.
Fans Get Unexpected Treat At Rescheduled Show
Kenny Chesney fans didn’t have to wait long for the rescheduled date. He luckily had a break in his schedule and was able to put the show on his calendar for the very next night. As previously mentioned, he offered refunds to anyone who couldn’t make the rescheduled date.
But those who did attend the July 25 show were in for an unexpected surprise. Kenny Chesney took the stage a little after 7 p.m. without opener Megan Moroney.
He shared a clip of a radio interview where he expressed regret over canceling the original show, but didn’t have a choice due to the weather. He added that his opening act was unable to make the rescheduled date, so he would take the stage in her place.
Lucky fans got to spend an intimate evening with Kenny Chesney as he played his biggest hits and new songs from his latest album.
