Miranda Lambert was a presenter at the 2024 MTV Music Video Awards. She attended the event with her husband of five years, Brendan McLoughlin. The pair have been engulfed in rumors about their marriage after he was spotted canoodling with another woman on the dance floor at the singer’s Nashville bar. But it seems the two are stronger than ever. She shared insight into how they keep their marriage strong amid her busy schedule.
Miranda Lambert’s Meet-Cute With Now-Husband
It is common knowledge that Miranda Lambert met her now-husband, Brendan McLoughlin, when he was working security at Good Morning America when she was performing with her group Pistol Annies in 2018. But it wasn’t a chance meeting.
The singer told the New York Times in 2019 that the members of the country band orchestrated her encounter with the NYPD officer. “My girlfriends, the Annies, saw him and knew I might be ready to hang out with someone,” Lambert revealed. She divorced singer Blake Shelton in 2015.
Miranda Lambert explains, “They invited [Brendan] to our show behind my back. They plucked him for me. My security guy Tom, he was in on it too. He said to me, ‘He’s here. And he’s pretty.'”
Miranda Lambert Reveals How She Keeps Marriage Strong
Miranda Lambert and Brendan McLoughlin hit it off immediately. They secretly married just three months later and are still going strong. Their marriage was the focus of rumors in June when he was spotted dancing suggestively with another woman at the bar the singer owns in Nashville.
Many fans thought that the divorce anthem she wrote for her upcoming album was about her husband. But she revealed that the song was actual written before the scandal. Brendan McLoughlin has a co-writing credit on one of her songs from Postcards from Texas, which comes out on Friday, September 13.

Extra caught up with the “Gunpowder & Lead” singer on the VMA red carpet. “Brendan’s the best,” Lambert gushed over her husband.
She added, “He’s down for anything, super happy and supportive, in the best way. Let’s me do my thing, but is right there beside me and it’s really awesome.”
According to Miranda Lambert, the key to keeping their marriage strong is always finding time for each other.
“We kinda live on a date honestly. Like, we really spend a lot of time together. We’re like best friends. Even when there’s time apart we really find a way to connect and always have date nights.”
