George Strait on his concert tour

In a statement, George Strait quoted his song “I’ll Always Remember You” by saying his feet doesn’t touch the ground until his concerts end. “It’s a true statement,” Strait said. “When we talked about doing these six shows next year with Chris, it was a no brainer for me. I was all in… I don’t do that many shows anymore, so if we can do a stadium where we can play for more people, that works for me.”

Strait has gone through with a Las Vegas residency that will wrap up at the end of 2022. This was the Strait to Vegas residency, which he started in 2016, two years after The Cowboy Rides Away Tour. He has played off and on for the last six years there at the MGM Grand. It was supposed to be for two weekends and has now had 27 stints there. The next step is in December.

Strait also said that he wouldn’t count out another stadium run in 2024. If he did, it would likely be with Chris Stapleton again. “Whether we do it again the following year depends on how we all feel it went when we’re finished with these shows,” he said.
