Oliver Anthony is not shy about his beliefs and convictions. In fact, he is so bold about his beliefs and convictions, that the “Rich Men North Of Richmond” singer started a recent concert by pulling out a Bible and sharing a Scripture with those in attendance. Without hesitation, he read I Corinthians 1:26-29.
I Corinthians 1:26-29
This Bible passage, taken from the New Testament, is about humility and being humble. It talks about how God chooses the “foolish things to shame the wise” and how He uses the “weak things to shame the strong.” Some may think this describes Oliver Anthony perfectly.
Despite his record-breaking rise to the top of the country music charts, Anthony appears to be as humble as he was before the world even knew who he was. Unlike some music stars in all genres, he has not forgotten where he came from and is showing the world just how deep his roots are. Oliver Anthony has yet to let his recent fame change him.

More Controversy For Oliver Anthony?
It seems no matter what Oliver Anthony does, he is surrounded by controversy. “Rich Men North Of Richmond” is still attracting heat for its lyrics. Politicians from both parties have embraced it, making it a pseudo battle cry for their causes and stances on the issues in the American government. Anthony continues to say it isn’t about one party or the other. Instead, it is about the flaws in both parties.
Reading from the Bible is not the most politically correct thing to do in this day and age. Despite that, Oliver Anthony took to the stage and did it anyway. He is doing everything his way. He doesn’t appear to be backing down from standing up for what he believes in. This very well could bring even more controversy his way.
Possible Backlash From Reading The Bible
The possibilities for backlash are endless. It isn’t a stretch of the imagination to think of all the ways reading the Bible to country music fans could have an impact on Oliver Anthony’s career. Will people react negatively? Will they think Anthony should just sing and not share his faith with others? Only time will tell just what people will say and do when they hear about how he opened his concert.
Tell us what you think about this. Is reading the Bible on stage at a country music concert okay? Should Oliver Anthony be more politically correct and more inclusive? Will this have a positive or negative impact on his career? If you knew a Scripture from the Bible was going to be read at a concert, would that make you more or less likely to buy a ticket and go?
