You read that correctly! Scotty McCreery got the Christmas gift of a lifetime from the Grand Ole Opry. He was invited tonight, Sunday, December 3, 2023, to become the newest member.

How It Happened For Scotty McCreery

Garth Brooks had the grand honor of inviting Scotty and he literally handed it to him wrapped as a Christmas present. He proceeded to tell the “Cab In a Solo” singer not to open it because the gift inside hasn’t yet arrived.

Garth says in a video shared by the Grand Ole Opry, “Tonight is merely an invitation.” At that point, Scotty knew what was coming his way.

What To Expect

If Scotty McCreery, is officially welcomed in 2023, he will become the fifth new member for this year. The other new members include Mule Deer, Jon Pardi, Henry Cho, and Sara Evans.

Brooks was also present to formally induct Jon Pardi, and was invited almost one year ago today, to present Ashley McBride her invitation to join, on December, 10, 2022.

How Scotty Reacted To The Invitation

He was at a loss for words. He said he “figured he probably wouldn’t be sleeping tonight.” The event wasn’t just the normal Grand Ole Opry performance, it was part of their Opry Country Christmas celebration. The celebration runs through December.

The invitation shows what has been a record year for Scotty. He welcomed his son, Avery, in late 2022, and he continued to notch his radio hits. Early this fall, Scotty announced the 2024 Cab in a Solo Tour. The tour begins in January.

Who Were The Witnesses?

In addition to Garth Brooks, several other Grand Ole Opry members such as, Mandy Barnett, Charlie McCoy, the Gatlin Brothers, and Jeannie Seely were all present to witness his invitation.

Scotty McCreery has not yet given a response to the invitation on any social media platforms.

Several Country Stars Who Aren’t Grand Ole Opry Member’s

There are several country music stars who aren’t member’s of the Grand Ole Opry. Some of them are listed below:

Alabama, they are in the Country Music Hall of Fame, but they aren’t members of the Opry. The band has a 50-year history and have had the chance to grace the stage several times.

Another country music star not apart of the Opry includes: Brooks & Dunn. The duo has also been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, but, they have not secured a membership in the Opry. Though, both Ronnie Dunn and Kix Brooks have made solo appearances on the legendary stage.

Thirdly, Eric Church: His grandmother taught him that the spry is “bigger than Oprah,” in 2006. The same year, he made his Grand Ole Opry debut and spoke about the opportunity, with amazement. He sang, “Black Betty” by Ram Jam and one of his own songs, “How ‘Bout You.”
