Chris Young found himself in hot water after a confrontation with an Alcohol Beverage Commission agent. Why does his lawyer think the charges will be dropped? Keep reading for all the details.
Chris Young Played Surprise Performance In Nashville Bar Days Before Arrest
Lower Broadway in Nashville is a must-stop for tourists and up-and-coming artists. The area features multiple bars owned by various country music stars, including Garth Brooks’ new Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky Tonk. But the area isn’t just for tourists. Sometimes you might spot a famous musician playing an unannounced set.
That’s what happened to patrons at Nashville’s Bootleggers Inn. Popular country singer Chris Young took the stage to perform a popup concert at the bar.
The singer shared a video on TikTok of the surprise performance. He played acoustic versions of three of his biggest hits, including “Gettin’ You Home,” “Famous Friends,” and “Aw Naw.”
Chris Young is scheduled to tour starting next month. Perhaps his impromptu performance was getting some practice in.

Chris Young was arrested earlier this week at a different Nashville bar. While at the Dawg House Saloon with friends, the singer had a confrontation with an Alcohol Beverage Commission agent.
According to a news channel in Nashville, the incident started at another bar, the Tin Roof. The agents carded Chris Young and other patrons during a compliance check. They also took a photo of Young’s license.
He reportedly followed them to the next bar to find out why. The agents weren’t in uniform, which may have caused confusion.
One agent claimed that Chris Young assaulted him. According to the affidavit, “While walking out the door Mr. Young put his hands out to stop me from leaving the bar and struck me on the shoulder. I then pushed Mr. Young to create distance since I had no idea of who Mr. Young was or what he had.”
What The Video Shows
However, footage from the security cameras has since revealed how the incident really played out. In the video, Chris Young did put his hand out but didn’t appear to make contact with any of the agents. However, one agent shoved the singer, causing him to trip on a bar stool and fall to the ground.
Chris Young quickly stood up and backed away from the agents.

Now his lawyer is publicly speaking out, calling for the charges to be dropped.
Why Legal Analyst Feels Assault Charge Could Be Dropped
Nashville-based News Channel Five spoke to a legal analyst about the case. After reviewing the video, the analyst doesn’t see a reason for the assault charges.
Chris Young is due in court next month to face the charges. However, it’s possible that the charges will be dropped before then due to the video footage.
The singer is the latest country star to make headlines. Zach Bryan was arrested over the summer for obstruction of investigation. Elle King is under fire after a drunken performance at the Grand Ole Opry.
