Miranda Lambert is known for her fiery personality and unapologetic lyrics. Her new song “Dammit, Randy” is no exception. The track has been the subject of much speculation since its release. Now, the singer is finally opening up about the inspiration behind the provocative tune.
New Song Sparks Speculation About Love Life
Miranda Lambert is more than just a country singer. As a public figure, every detail of her life is under constant scrutiny, including her romantic life. She was married to another famous musician, Blake Shelton, from 2011 to 2015. They had a very public breakup with rumors of infidelity on both sides.
Blake Shelton connected with The Voice co-star and punk rock idol, Gwen Stefani, after his divorce. They married in 2021 after dating for over five years.
Miranda Lambert also moved on, but her romance happened much faster than her ex’s. She met former NYPD officer Brendan McLoughlin in 2018 when he was working security at her appearance on Good Morning America. The two were married just a few months later after a whirlwind romance.
But rumors of trouble in paradise surfaced last month when footage hit the internet of him dancing close with a woman who was definitely not his wife. Neither Miranda or Brendan has addressed the situation, though the woman in question claimed it was all innocent.
Miranda Lambert released the song “Dammit Randy” from her upcoming album a few weeks ago. The lyrics quickly caused speculation that it was a diss against her former or current husband.
“Well, damnit, Randy, did you ever hear me at all?/You were standin’ bone dry in the middle of a waterfall/You were livin’ in the dark, but you couldn’t see the light of day/We were picture perfect, but you couldn’t put it in a frame”
Miranda Lambert Reveals Who Really Inspired “Dammit Randy” Diss Track
In addition to her new album, the busy country sensation recorded a song for an upcoming movie soundtrack. But she took to her Instagram over the weekend to what – or whom – inspired “Dammit Randy.”
Her explanation confirms that the song is a diss track of sorts, but not aimed at who people think. She revealed that the subject of the song is her former record label. Miranda Lambert signed with Republic Records earlier this year.
She said in the Instagram video that “Dammit Randy” was inspired by how she finally feels supported by her record label. Watch the video below for more about how exactly the song came to be.
