Notoriously, country music’s dynamo of creativity and goodness, Dolly Parton, rises long before dawn to start her day. Whether it’s a new song, a new expansion of her literacy initiative, the Imagination Library, or another way of using the words of her life to transform lives, the country marvel thrives on filling hearts with hope.

As always, Dolly Parton keeps many creative irons in the fire, and this time, the My Tennessee Mountain Home songwriter spins another story from her life, this time, with children in mind, and her beloved “god dog” too, as ETOnline per MSN verifies. On another front, Dolly’s doing her best to keep her buddy, Garth Brooks, from giving in to the jitters as a first-time co-host of the ACM Awards.

As usual, Dolly Parton embodies absolute country cool and makes it all look as easy as her homemade Berry Pie.

Billy The Kid is a can-do doggie

Officially, Dolly Parton fans can’t put Dolly Parton’s Billy The Kid Makes It Big into the hands of little ones or their own until April 25. However, the charming picture book for children age 4-9 or anyone who considers himself or herself a dog lover or pet parent is now available for pre-order from Amazon and other book outlets. The price ranges from $15.95-$17.95.

With vibrant illustrations by MacKenzie Haley, the story by Dolly Parton and Erica S. Perl unveils the dreams and the journey of Billy, who yearns for stardom as a big-time country music performer in Nashville. Of course, that goal is far from new, but Billy confronts bullies and challenges in new circumstances. The French bulldog struggles, but also, finds his way and identity.

Naturally, Dolly Parton infuses any project with her fun, self-effacing humor. In this case, besides the storyline, the prolific author transforms the titles of her own classic songs to be part of Billy The Kid’s repertoire. Jowlene and I Will Pawlways Love You are sure to keep readers of every age laughing and loving Dolly and Billy. Technically, Billy belongs to Parton’s manager, Danny Nozell, but he certainly holds her heart. The book will only multiply the number of Billy’s social media following as Doggy Parton’s brand ambassador! As avid fans recall, Country Music Alley  covered the launch of the canine couture line back in September of 2022.

Dolly quells Garth’s jitters

Without a doubt, throughout their decades as performers, Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks share records for mammoth sellout audiences, from Las Vegas residencies to the reaches of Australia, and numerous points beyond.

Surprisingly, and playfully, though, as Yahoo News notes, the artist famous for Friends In Low Places gets thrown for a double take in the newly released promo video.

In her best flirty, fabulous Dolly Parton style, Dolly reassures the “first-timer” Brooks that she’s experienced with “plenty of times” and “plenty of people” for what she promises to make “the best night” of his life.

With a nervous flutter, Garth confirms “We’re talking about hosting the ACM Awards show, right?” of his luminary co-host.

“Well, of course,” Dolly Parton replies. Her comforting reassurance, though, comes with an added Parton-only kind of flourish.

“But if you have any problems, just look at me…up here,” she extends.

A different era of awards shows

Unlike the CMT Music Awards, televised on broadcast stations this year, the ACM Awards will run on Prime Video again this year. Nonetheless, Dolly Parton’s unmistakable commentary as co-host, is certain to be wall-to-wall news coverage, along with her Oklahoma partner’s enthusiastic comebacks.

Through many childhoods of the viewing public, country music awards ceremonies became some of the most memorable nights of TV viewing. Unfortunately, streaming and view-on-demand service has robbed some of the sentimentality famous in country music artists and their songs. All in all, progress and technology do open doors for new artists. The process just stings at times.

The Academy of Country Music Awards streams live for their 58th year on May 11 at 8 PM ET from the Ford Center at the Star in Frisco, TX.

Keep up with your favorite country artists through awards season or any time with Country Music Alley and give a shout in the comments.
