Long-time Taylor Swift fans are familiar with her love for Tim McGraw. After all, one of her most popular songs was inspired by his music. In a recent interview, the 1883 actor opened up about how he knew Taylor Swift was destined for stardom. Keep reading to find out what he said.
Taylor Swift’s Rise to Fame
Taylor Swift was just a teenager when she hit the music scene. She made waves in 2006 with her debut single titled “Tim McGraw.” The lyrics describe two young loves dancing to a Tim McGraw song, and in the chorus, Swift sings, “When you think of Tim McGraw/I hope you think of me.”
In the last near-20 years, Taylor Swift has become a mega star in her own right. She’s in the middle of a sold-out tour that’s been attracting all kinds of celebrities, from movie star Kevin Costner to Bachelorette alum Becca Kufrin.
Tim McGraw Takes Credit For Taylor Swift’s Success?
Despite writing a song about him, Taylor Swift didn’t actually meet Tim McGraw until she was performing the namesake song at the ACM Awards in 2007. She approached McGraw and his wife, country singer Faith Hill, in the audience. It seems the threesome hit it off because Swift was an opening act at their Soul2Soul II Tour later that year.
Tim McGraw spoke to Entertainment Tonight Canada about Swift’s mind-blowing success. He said that he knew early on that she was going to be a star. He told the outlet, “Faith and I both knew that there was no stopping her.”
According to McGraw, they came to that realization during the Soul2Soul tour. In a way, Taylor Swift owes part of her fame to Tim McGraw, or at least the song bearing his name.
Faith Hill & Tim McGraw Approach 27th Wedding Anniversary
While Tim McGraw may be a fan of Taylor Swift, he reserves his heart for Faith Hill. The two country singers met in the early 90s when they were both up-and-coming on the Nashville scene. The two began a whirlwind romance when Hill was the opening act on McGraw’s 1996 tour.
They married just a few months after going public with their romance. In October, they will mark their 27th wedding anniversary. Tim McGraw spoke to ET about their long-lasting marriage. He compared their marriage to a dog, but it’s not as bad as it sounds.
In fact, he recently gave Faith Hill credit for his sobriety.
