Blake Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, is brought to tears seeing her teenage son perform live for the first time. Will this be the start of the young man’s career in music?

Kingston Rossdale’s Debut

Kingston, the oldest of three, made his parents proud on August 11th, 2023. At Blake Shelton’s bar Ole Red Bar, Kingston performed at a free pop-up show. Though Blake teased a special guest, he did not spoil the surprise until the moment Rossdale took to the stage. Despite being his first live show, the 17-year-old sang with confidence while strumming the guitar. His parents were nothing but proud seeing their eldest walk in their footsteps.

Not everyone is so proud, though. Some haters online, specifically on Twitter, think he will only garnish fame because of his parents and not his own skill. However, plenty of other comments balance out these opinions by congratulating the young artist and showing their love for his singing. Regardless, Kingston has what it takes to take the stage fearlessly.

Gwen Stefani Gets Emotional

According to an interview between Gwen and a member of the People magazine, this is what she had to say about her son’s performance:

“King has been writing a bunch of amazing songs. When it’s your kid, it’s like, you love everything, but this is next level to me. These are really good songs… I was bawling. It’s crazy when you have children, and they learn what their gift is. You see their talent, and you’re like, ‘Wow.’ I’m so happy for him that he has that outlet.”

Gwen Stefani then spends some time reminiscing about her own career and the life she had given her children. She is beyond proud that her son has found the same love and drive for music as Stefani did at that age. What is to come for Kingston James McGregor Rossdale? Will he follow the same path as his parents?

Is There A Future Career For Kingston?

With parents as famous as Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, it is nearly impossible to stay out of the spotlight, singer or not. If the teen wishes to continue his career in music, he will succeed. However, does he deserve this privilege? Is the talent there? A few people online are not very fond of his abilities as a performer. Even though Rossdale is not a top-tier singer,  he will have two very talented coaches leading the way. For the first public show, the kid did an amazing job. Singing in front of a crowd is no easy feat, especially for a 17-year-old. Gwen Stefani herself told People Magazine, “…being able to sing live is a whole ‘nother thing.” At the very least, he has his mom Gwen on his side, and that says volumes.
