Many fans of Yellowstone remember Luke Grimes for portraying Kayce Dutton alongside iconic actor Kevin Costner. But his career in Hollywood extends far beyond the drama series as he also starred in Fifty Shades of Grey, True Blood, and even the 2006 action movie American Sniper.
While his career on the silver screen seems prosperous, Grimes also has a growing future in country music. Besides playing at the Stagecoach Festival, the singer is on the cusp of releasing his Pain Pills Or Pews album on October 20. With songs like “No Horse To Ride” garnering over 16 million listens, Grimes recently sat down to discuss his music career, what he hopes for the future, and playing the legendary Stagecoach Festival.
Pain Pills Or Pews
Back in September, Luke Grimes first announced his Pain Pills Or Pews album on Instagram. Even with his Hollywood career, the singer seemed humbled by the amount of support he received.
He wrote, “I don’t deserve this. Full stop. Yet, here it is. I’m so grateful to everyone who has helped me get here. A dream of putting music out in the world and getting to share it live is now something of a reality. Thank you for listening and showing up.”
Gaining over a whopping 60,000 likes, fans poured into the comment section, wanting more details. “Love every song you put out. And, I have to say the title of this one may be the best title ever!”
Another fan wrote, “Congratulations, you deserve everything that happens to you, you have a big heart and everything comes back, keep it up.”
Almost forgetting to congratulate Grimes, other fans wondered if he would tour in their city. “I hope you come to Nashville one day. Would love to see you in concert.”
So far, Luke Grimes is scheduled to headline eight shows starting on November 9 in Columbus, Ohio, and ending in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 16.
With tour dates set, the actor recently sat down with ET to share his thoughts on playing Stagecoach and his new EP. Although somewhat shocked about the warm reception he has received so far, the singer explained he hoped for nothing more than for people “to relate to the music.” He added that, hopefully, they “like it enough that I get to do it again.”
Luke Grimes Recalls Almost Denying Stagecoach Festival
While proud of the album, Luke Grimes shared some artists who inspired him along the way. He noted Chris Stapleton and Zach Bryan were both on his radar, suggesting that Bryan’s work is both “fresh and cool.”
Although acting is in his blood, Luke Grimes admitted that playing such an iconic festival like Stagecoach comes with a great deal of nerves. While his second time performing at the festival, Grimes said that he almost refused the first time given his lack of experience. But seeing it as a “jump out of the plane moment,” the actor decided to jump at the chance, and it seems to have worked.
Acting with Kevin Costner is already a huge accomplishment, but Luke Grimes explained how he has yet to play with the actor. Known for his own musical talents, Grimes said Costner even created a small set while filming so he could play. Yet, with all the right ingredients and both Grimes and Costner singers, neither have shared the microphone.
