This is certainly not the only time that Kelly Clarkson and Cody Johnson have interacted. Kelly has previously welcomed Cody as a guest star on her show, where he performed his song “Till You Can’t” in January 2022. Clarkson covered the same song that following year during a February 2023 episode.
Kelly Clarkson’s Kellyoke Segment
On Kelly’s show The Kelly Clarkson Show, the celebrity has a segment that she calls “Kellyoke.” This is a short section of each episode in which Clarkson will sing a cover of a song. Each episode she sings a different song, some modern and some classic. Recently she has sung “Lucky Star” by Madonna, “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera, and “Always In My Head” by Coldplay. Kelly Clarkson sings these songs with the help of her band of 5, whom she calls “Y’all.”
Kelly Clarkson Covers “When It Comes To You”
On season 5 episode 7 of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly puts a beautiful spin on Cody Johnson’s “When It Comes To You.” This awe-inspiring performance took place on October 24, 2023. The original song was released in the year 2021 for Johnson’s “Human: The Double Album.”
Clarkson sings this song with confidence and grace in this week’s section of Kellyoke. Her voice is smooth and effortless, as she rocks the stage in a modest black dress with black heels. Blue spotlights drown the stage with soft and soothing light, adding to the melancholy vibe of the song. As she wraps up the song and the music is fading she happily says, “I love that song!” The live crowd cheers for the singer and they move on with the episode.
