Reba McEntire will be performing at the Super Bowl this year. Keep reading to find out the reason she couldn’t turn the gig down.

Super Bowl LVIII Performers

This year’s Super Bowl is a little over three weeks away. The NFL teams are still duking it out in the playoffs, but other aspects of the game are locked down. The announcement came in September that R&B singer Usher will perform at the coveted halftime show.

More performers were announced this week, including the National Anthem and the ASL performers.

Country legend Reba McEntire will take the stage to belt the National Anthem. Rapper Post Malone – who many hope will release a country album – will perform “America the Beautiful.”

Audra Day will sing “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”

The Super Bowl will also feature three deaf performers. Actor and Dancing With The Stars contestant Daniel Durant will perform the National Anthem in ASL as Reba McEntire sings it.

Super Bowl LVIII is set for February 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Why Reba McEntire Couldn’t Turn Down Super Bowl Gig

Dolly Parton has turned down performing at the Super Bowl for years. A rumor took over the internet that Jason Aldean turned down a hefty paycheck to perform the National Anthem. But Reba McEntire couldn’t turn down the gig. Why not?

The singer appeared on CBS Mornings to talk about the Super Bowl gig. She revealed that her manager first brought the offer to her, and her response was that she’d think about it.

But her boyfriend, actor Rex Linn, immediately accepted the job on her behalf.

“And Rex Linn, my boyfriend, who is a huge football fan, he said, ‘Yes, she’ll do it, absolutely,'” she said on the talk show (via Taste of Country.)

Reba has been dating Rex since 2020. The longtime friends reunited while filming Young Sheldon, and their friendship turned romantic.

While this is Reba McEntire’s first performance at the Super Bowl, she’s well-versed in the National Anthem. She told the CBS hosts that she performed the song for ten years at the National Finals Rodeo when she was an up-and-coming singer.

“How you get ready for it, you just warm up like you do a concert, sing it about five or six times, then get in there and do it,” Reba explained about her pre-game routine.
