Dolly Parton is working on a Broadway musical about her life. How will she find the right person to play her in the show? Keep reading to find out who will play Dolly Parton on Broadway.
Dolly Parton Goes To The Dogs
Dolly Parton turned heads at an NFL game in November. She took the stage at halftime when the Dallas Cowboys hosted the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving Day. But it wasn’t her music that put all eyes on her.
The entertainment icon performed some of her biggest hits while wearing a Dallas Cowboys cheerleading outfit.
Dolly Parton is returning to CBS next month, but not for football. On February 21, Dolly Parton will go to the dogs. Her Pet Gala will feature performances of her biggest hits and a doggie runway with dogs wearing Dolly’s iconic outfits.

Dolly Parton’s Pet Gala airs on CBS on Wednesday, February 21, and streams on Paramount+ the next day.
Her Broadway Dream
When promoting her Rockstar album late last year, Dolly Parton revealed that her life story is heading to Broadway. She hopes the musical will debut in 2025.
She recently spoke to PEOPLE magazine about fulfilling her lifelong dream. “Right now, I’m working on my life story as a musical, and so going on Broadway and opening my show on Broadway, that’s been a biggie [goal] in my mind for many, many years,” the singer told the outlet about the project.
The “Jolene” singer added, “That’d be the one that I want to make certain I get done while I’m still kicking, while I’m around to stay involved in it.”
Who Will Play Her In The Musical?
How does she plan to cast the perfect person to play her? Dolly Parton shared that she’s not looking for just one Dolly, but three! She plans to cast “a “little Dolly,” an “earlier years Dolly” and “an older Dolly.”

And she has an exciting idea on how to make it happen! She told PEOPLE that she wants to do a nationwide “Finding Dolly” contest to fill the role.
She said, “We’re going to be auditioning and trying to find them through different means.” However, she didn’t share any concrete plans for the contest just yet.
