At 90 years young, there appears to be nothing that will slow Willie Nelson down. “The Red-Headed Stranger” is still doing everything he was doing when he started his career in country music. That includes recording and releasing new music. In fact, Willie Nelson just revealed the release date of his next album. This will be the “Always On My Mind” singer’s 75th album.

The New Willie Nelson Album

Willie Nelson has announced his upcoming album will be titled The Border. This album will not include as many songs as several of his past albums have. The latest album will only have 10 songs.

Of those 10 songs, four of them were co-written by the “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man” singer and Buddy Cannon. Nelson and Buddy Cannon have written songs together for quite some time.

Wille Nelson Covers Rodney Crowell Song

The title of the latest album was taken from one of the songs on the album. That song, “The Border,” is a song performed by Rodney Crowell. It appeared on Rodney Crowell’s album Texas. Crowell released that album back in 2019. It is a part of the album that shares its name.

Busy Summer For Willie Nelson

Despite his age, the “Mommas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys” singer will be very busy this summer. He will be a part of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour. Included in this tour will be John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Allison Krause and Family band.

For specific Outlaw Music Festival Tour shows, Willie Nelson will be joined by other singers. Those include soul singer, Celisse, and Bluegrass artist, Billy Strings. For some of the shows, he will be joined by Southern Avenue. Southern Avenue is a five-piece band from Memphis, Tennessee.

The Outlaw Music Festival Tour will be starting in Alpharetta, Georgia. This takes place on June 21, 2024. The final date for the festival tour is September 17, 2024. The last performance will take place in Buffalo, New York.

The Border‘s Release Date

Fans of Willie Nelson are lucky because they will not have too long for his 75th album. The fans will only have to wait about a month and a half to hear new music from the “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys” singer. The release date has been set for May 31st.
