The “Coat Of Many Colors” singer is also a talented movie and television superstar. Now, she can add one more thing to her long list of accomplishments. Dolly Parton is now a lifesaver.

Whose Life Did Dolly Parton Help Save?

Dolly Parton helped save the life of Pearl Monroe Tucker who is known by everyone who knows and loves her as “Roe Roe.” Little Roe Roe is seven years old. She is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Pearl Monroe Tucker, along with her father, was visiting Dollywood. It was opening day at the country music-themed amusement park. She was holding a special sign just for Dolly Parton.

It was that special sign that caught the eye of Parton. When she read what was written on the sign, the “I Will Always Love You” singer stopped immediately. She made her way to little Roe Roe. Dolly Parton wanted to hear that little girl’s story.

Pearl Monroe Tucker wasn’t holding the only sign in the crowd of people at Dollywood. Despite the sea of signs, all being held by people hoping to get Dolly Parton’s attention, it was Roe Roe’s sign that stopped her in her tracks.

What Did The Sign Say?

The sign was fairly simple. It read “Dolly, your music helped me beat cancer.” Parton had to meet the little girl who was holding such an important sign.

As the “Jolene” singer soon learned, Pearl Monroe Tucker had been diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She fought this form of leukemia for over 800 days. Roe Roe even went through chemotherapy.

How Did Dolly Parton Help Save Roe Roe’s Life?

It turns out, it was Dolly Parton’s music that got little Pearl Monroe Tucker through her darkest days fighting cancer. The “Mystery Of The Mystery” singer, without ever knowing it, helped this little girl survive cancer.

“Hi, sweetie. Are you all better now?” Dolly Parton asked the little girl.

“I’m so happy. I’m so happy for you,” Parton said when she learned Roe Roe had been in remission for three years.

Dolly Parton Inspires Roe Roe’s Father

Dolly Parton did not stop at helping save Pearl Monroe Tucker’s life. She also inspired her Roe Roe’s father to do something to help make a difference in the lives of children with cancer. Following the spirit Parton’s Imagination Library, Chad Tucker started a non-profit organization as well.

Chad Tucker created “Roe Roe’s Heroes.” It is a foundation that helps children with cancer. One part of this charitable foundation is “The Hero Library.” This special library gives books of courage and support to children who are fighting cancer.
