Gwen Stefani is releasing her fifth solo album later this year. She’s found major success as a solo artist after leaving the ska-punk band No Doubt. She even ventured into country music with her now-husband, Blake Shelton. Will her new album be her first full country album? Keep reading to see how she categorizes the upcoming album.
Is Gwen Stefani Finally Releasing A Full Country Album?
Country music is usually the last thing people think of when they think of Gwen Stefani. She gained fame as the lead singer of the 90s punk band, No Doubt. Even her solo music was pop-rock radio ready. But then she met Blake Shelton and her life changed completely.
They met as co-workers on The Voice in 2014. They were both freshly divorced and went public with their romance a year later. The couple finally married in 2021. They’ve collaborated on several country hits. Both “Happy Anywhere” and “Nobody But You” went to the top of the country charts and sparked Stefani’s Grand Ole Opry debut in 2020.
Beyoncé and Post Malone both infiltrated country music with country albums this year. Is Gwen Stefani the next to change genres? She spoke to Rolling Stone about her upcoming album. Bouquet comes out on November 15. She released a new single to promote the album.
Despite donning a cowboy hat and recording the new album in Nashville with top country producer Scott Hendricks, she said her new album isn’t a country album.
“It’s all the stuff I listened to in the station wagon on the way to church. Yacht rock, though it wasn’t called yacht rock then. The music I listen to now, I wanted this album to reflect that.”
How Husband Blake Shelton Influenced New Album
While Gwen Stefani isn’t ready to release a full country album yet, Bouquet is inspired partially by her country music husband, Blake Shelton.

The album features the duet “Purple Irises” with her husband, Blake Shelton. She told Rolling Stone that she was in a writing rut until she penned that song, which was inspired by her husband’s surprising hobby.
“Obviously, he has some hobbies that are so far from what I am — I’m like makeup girl — so opposite in so many ways, but we find so much joy in gardening together.”
Gwen Stefani’s new album isn’t country, but was heavily inspired by her country boy, Blake Shelton. Do you think she should release a full country album? Sound off in the comments.
