Aaron Watson officially hails from Amarillo. However, the Country crooner and songwriter has a home anywhere he lands in the Lone Star State. From the Houston Rodeo to just about any dusty stage with a microphone you can find, Aaron Watson has been there at one time or another through decades.
Country music artists tend to get more than a tiny bit wistful over fond Christmas memories. Aaron Watson has mouthwatering memories of his grandmother’s kitchen. Beyond the deliciousness coming from her kitchen, Watson described to Taste of Country that he had to be fast to scarf down the homemade goodness. Hint, hint—the “Getaway Truck” singer is not one bit sorry for being so speedy!
Nobody bakes in love like grandmothers, Aaron Watson insists
“You know what I really miss at Christmas?” Aaron Watson playfully questions. “I miss the candies that my grandmother Watson would make and I miss the sugar cookies that my other grandmother would make.” The singer seems to be a stellar example that indeed the way to a cowboy’s heart is through luscious confections.
“If I would love to have just one more batch,” Aaron Watson longs. The kitchen is “the heart of the home” for a reason. No one imagines Christmas without the smells wafting through the air. Every aroma ties to memories of togetherness, laughter, and even making memorable messes of some recipes that no one in the family ever forgets.
Never mind the graciousness when it comes to grandma’s treats

Additionally, he always makes time for fans and good causes. He is a fixture on West Texas TV for local businesses and doing benefits, such as the San Angelo dinner show to benefit The West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Through its three Texas locations, a myriad of therapeutic and assistive interventions are made to improve the lives of disabled children and adults. Watson often expresses “they’re like family” when giving of his time or talent. When it comes to his own family at Christmas time when cookies are involved, however, Aaron Watson’s manners are the last thing that comes to his mind.
Christmas is the season of giving and a time for selflessness to shine. Consequently, Aaron Watson was always short on graciousness when it came to his grandmothers’ goodies.
“When those candies and those cookies came out, I was always selfish with them and I never shared,” Aaron Watson confesses.
Has being a married man with three children changed his self-centered vantage point? Not when it comes to anything from the kitchen. “I’m glad I didn’t share,” Aaron Watson asserts. “I have no regrets.” The “Run Wild Horses Run” songwriter has no qualms about making a run for it to the kitchen and not leaving a crumb of the deliciousness behind.

Aaron Watson isn’t alone in reminiscing over favorite Christmas foods. Dolly Parton considers family, food, and fun to be the most important components of her Christmas festivities.
