Within country music, the Grand Ole Opry is considered somewhat of a holy place. Any country singer who stood the test of time once played on its stage. And even for those merely attending a show, the history and magic can’t be ignored. Recently, singer Alana Springsteen, on the cusp of releasing her debut album, Twenty Something, remembered her friend Kenny Chesney and the priceless advice he gave as she launched her music career.
Before Alana Springsteen picked up a microphone, she knew the power of music. At just 10 years old, she visited the Grand Ole Opry, noting, “I got to tour the Grand Ole Opry for the first time. It was before I ever moved to Nashville, and I was sitting on the pews on the stage. Luke was one of the people playing that night, and he played Rain Is A Good Thing and just lit the place.”
A Dream Come True
Never losing her dream to sing, Alana Springsteen signed with Columbia Records NY and Sony Music Nashville in October 2022. And to make that month even better, she received her chance to no longer visit the Grand Ole Opry but perform there. The moment seemed surreal as Luke Bryan called to congratulate her. “I get this call, and it’s Luke on the other end, and I’m like, ‘What are you doing? Like what? ’And he was like, “Alana, I wanted to be the one to tell you that you’re making your debut on your birthday. And it just made it so much more meaningful.”

The Advice Alana Springsteen Holds Close
While Alana Springsteen’s career is launching mainstream, the singer took a step back to remember some wise advice from another icon, Kenny Chesney. She said, “I’ll never forget talking to him backstage at his show. One of the things he told me was like, ‘Don’t be in a rush. It’s so easy to get ahead of yourself and kind of like want that instant gratification, that instant success.’ But he was like, ‘Build it like this. Start at this core group and one step at a time, take it to the next level and carry your fans with you. ’”
Although great advice, Alana Springsteen continued with her own take on fame. “I think that’s the most meaningful way to build something. To really take your time and just not get too caught up in like that instant, like getting to the top. It’s so easy to do that with the virality of everything. And you can be successful overnight. But for me, it’s always about – it’s about building it the right way and doing it with just meaning and intentionality.”
