For the past four years, fans of Riley Green wondered what happened to his music. Back in September 2019, the singer released the album Different ‘Round Here. But as mentioned, after that, he seemed to fall silent as fans waited for news of a new album. While it’s never easy to wait, good things supposedly come to those who do. And on October 13, 2023, Green’s Ain’t My Last Rodeo hit the shelves. And with the album packed with collaborations, the singer recently discussed his friendship with country singer Jelly Roll.

Besides a new album, Riley Green is preparing for a massive tour that features 33 stops all across America. Talking about the process of creating the album, the singer admitted feeling the pressure of wanting to create and the excitement that followed. “I think as an artist, we’re always kind of longing for new music to put out and you always want the next record and obviously excited about new music, but I think timing was great now coming off a tour with Luke Combs doing stadiums and there’s a lot about this album that I’m really excited about.”

Riley Green Recalls Asking Jelly Roll To Work With Him

While the process takes time, Riley Green admitted that he and producer Dann Huff mastered the tone right away. “Dann Huff did a great job of capturing what we were trying to say. I think it’s a really well-rounded project, a lot of different types of songs and even some collaborations people probably wouldn’t expect.”

Speaking of collaborations, Riley Green laughed at how people acted when he thought of Jelly Roll for the song Copenhagen in a Cadillac. “I’ve obviously been friends with Jelly for a long time and he’s having an amazing moment in country music right now. I wrote Copenhagen in a Cadillac without him in mind, it was kind of just a title I had and it was a fun kind of lighthearted song and I thought about him and thought that might be something that he enjoyed.”

And what did Jelly Roll have to say to Riley Green when he sent the song? “He called me immediately and said, ‘please, let me be on this song.’ So it was really cool for him to be a part of it.”

Not The Only Fan Of Jelly Roll

While the pair are friends, their lives are completely different as Riley Green loves the outdoors and duck hunting. Imagining taking Jelly Roll out hunting with him, the singer joked, “He’s a pretty jovial guy, he’s kind of loud, so I don’t know if he can be still or quiet long enough.”

Not the only person to speak fondly of Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson also praised the singer. She explained Jelly Roll as being “One of the purest souls I have gotten to know.” Wilson added, “I think it is so cool that he has fans who love him for him.”
