Jason Aldean has been a household name for almost 20 years. Is he ready to pass the torch and retire? See what he has to say about it.

Jason Aldean Balances Family & Career

In 2012, Jason Aldean found himself in the middle of a scandal when photos surfaced of the very married man kissing American Idol contestant Brittany Kerr.

He quickly offered a public apology but ultimately filed for divorce from his first wife a year later. He debuted his romance with Brittany at the CMT Awards in 2014.

Brittany Kerr became Brittany Aldean in 2015. The couple have two children together and the family unit often features on Jason’s Instagram.

He took to the social media platform earlier this month to share a video of his family’s vacation at a Mexican resort. “@casa.del.faro Thank you for the best family vacation we’ve had to date,” he wrote in the Instagram caption.

The singer promised to return to the vacation hot spot in the future.

After spending quality time with his family, is he ready to move on from his career in country music and retire?

Is He Ready For Retirement?

Jason Aldean knows his time at the top of the country charts and on country music radio is coming to an end. During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, he spoke about passing the torch to the younger generation.

“I love the guys that are coming up — Morgan and Luke and Parker McCollum. It’s a great crop of young artists that I think are gonna carry the torch for a long time,” he said.

Jason candidly said that “at some point,” his fans will tell him when it’s time to hang up his hat, and country radio won’t play his songs.

Noting that he just had a sold-out tour, he added, “But I don’t see it happening anytime in the next couple of years.”

Jason Aldean’s Thoughts On Men Dominating Country Music

The Georgia native already got a small taste of what it will be like when stations stop playing his music. CMT stopped airing the video for the controversial song “Try That in a Small Town” earlier this year. The video, which was released in July, quickly earned backlash for its seemingly racist undertones.

The video used footage of violent riots, and the parts of Jason Aldean performing were filmed in front of a Tennessee courthouse that was the site of a lynching in 1927.

The singer stood by the video despite the public outcry. The LA Times asked the opinionated singer if he thinks of the male-dominated country music industry.

He shared his belief that talent matters the most. “I like to think that if you’re a talented artist and your songs are good, and you’re a great performer, then somebody’s gonna give you a chance, whether you’re a guy, a female, a duo, a band, whatever.”

After 18 years in the industry, should Jason Aldean step aside for the younger generation to take over? Let us know what you think in the comments.
