Gwen Stefani Had A Beauty Emergency At The Met Gala

Gwen Stefani had a beauty emergency at the Met Gala. The 52-year-old turned heads on the red carpet as she rocked head-to-toe neon at the 2022 Met Gala on Monday, May 2. She wore a two-piece ensemble, which consisted of a voluminous ball gown with a bandeau top. Gwen finished off the look with matching fingerless gloves that showed off her neon manicure.

The pop star wore her signature blonde hair down and straight with a middle part. She looked fresh-faced and natural on the red carpet. You wouldn’t know that she dealt with a beauty emergency. The GXVE Beauty founder had to DIY when it came to her makeup.

Gwen Stefani becomes her own makeup artist

Gwen Stefani kept the rest of her look minimal with faux lashes and blushed lips. She admitted that she enjoyed getting ready for that night. Unfortunately, her makeup artist had an emergency, which allowed her to do her own makeup. The beauty lover was on board with that idea since she loves fashion and beauty.

“I feel like I already did the fun part, which is getting all ready,” Gwen Stefani told host La La Anthony on Vogue’s official red carpet live stream, per People. “That’s always my favorite thing. It’s like, ‘What’s the dress gonna be like?’ And the fantasy of that and talking with the designer and figuring out what the nails, the hair and makeup [are going to be].”

The “Slow Clap” singer wanted to keep the rest of her look simple. It was a smart idea since she was already wearing an attention-getting outfit. She even did her makeup herself. This comes after she launched GXVE Beauty in March 2022.

“Honestly, I had a crazy day because I was supposed to work with a new makeup artist… and she had an emergency and she had to leave so I had to do my own makeup!” Gwen Stefani said. “I had a lot of fun doing it today and it was stressful but in a good way. I was like, ‘Alright, I got this.'”

No Doubt singer handled it like a pro

That’s when the songstress channeled her inner makeup artist. She wanted to add just a little pop of color to her eyes with the GXVE Line It Up 24-Hour Waterproof Gel Liner in Bathwater, which is a cobalt blue. Then, she applied the Hella On Point Ultra Fine Eyebrow Pencil in Shade 2. When it came to her lips, she wore two nude lipsticks from her June 7 drop.

Fans wanted to know why Blake Shelton hasn’t attended the Met Gala with her. She last went stag to the event in 2019. However, she teased that it “will never happen…ever!”

“We’ve been talking about Blake being here all day and fantasizing about it,” Gwen Stefani told Entertainment Tonight at the 2019 Met Gala red carpet.
