Lainey Wilson topped the charts as Country Music Alley’s hottest female country singer of 2023. She landed in this slot thanks to a combination of her incredible talents as a singer and her stunning good looks.
During a recent interview with Pure Country, Jelly Roll sang high praises for his friend. He bowed to her as “one of the great voices in country music.” And, he admitted she opened his eyes to the power a woman’s perspective on a song could have.
What else did Jelly Roll have to say about Lainey Wilson during this interview? And, what was the purpose of this interview exactly? Keep reading for the details.
Jelly Roll Bows To Lainey Wilson’s Powerful Female Perspective
Jelly Roll’s career is booming with success right now as his latest hit “Need A Favor” tops the charts. His recent duet with Lainey Wilson on “Save Me,” however, promises to be just as successful.
Jelly Roll only had good things to say about Lainey as he opened up about the experience of working with her. In fact, he agreed she was a force to reckon with. Working with her was a real honor for him as she considers her to have one of the greatest voices in the world of country music.
Lainey’s like a sister. I think she’s got one of the best voices in country music, and we’re already friends so it was just such an easy collab.”
He adds that he didn’t really give any thought beyond the fact that working with Lainey would be a good time. But, the experience ended up being so much more than that.
He Learned Something By Working With Her
Jelly Roll admits that Lainey managed to teach him something during their time working together. He was no stranger to the power behind the song. The song gave a voice to anyone struggling with addiction. Jelly Roll, however, didn’t realize that putting a woman’s perspective on the song could give it even more power.
He explained: “I didn’t realize how much of an impact the song was going to have on me when I heard it from the perspective of a woman.”
According to Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson is such a humble woman that she didn’t even realize the power she brought to the song. He shared that Lainey frequently reaches out to discuss how well the song is doing. And, he is always quick to point out that he has little to do with the fact that their duet is booming.
It has nothing to do with me, Lainey.’ I’ve already put this song out. I was like, ‘People are hearing this from the perspective of a woman right now, and it’s putting a whole different energy into the universe from this song.’ You know what I mean?
