A young fan of Morgan Wallen was given a special gift this week, creating a new core memory for the girl.
A Brief History Of Morgan Wallen
Morgan Cole Wallen is a 30-year-old singer and songwriter from Sneedville, TN. The artist now lives in Nashville. Like many popular country artists, Wallen was a guest star on The Voice. During Season 6 of the series, the artist performed “Collide” by Howie Day. This was also the same year (2014) that Wallen released his first song, “Stay.”
As of today, Morgan Wallen is on his “One Night At A Time” World Tour. During one of these concerts, something special took place.
A Young Cancer Patient Comes Backstage
Before Morgan Wallen’s show at FedEx Field, he took a special guest backstage. On September 2nd, 2023, 9-year-old Kenley was allowed a private meet and greet with the artist.
Kenley has always been a big fan of the country artist, playing his music while going through treatment, and even having a Morgan Wallen western-themed birthday party. Even more exciting, the young fan was not aware of the surprise until the day of the concert.
Kenley was diagnosed with Stage 2 kidney cancer in December 2022. She had to surgically remove her left kidney and undertook chemotherapy for six months, doing one treatment a week. After a grueling battle, the young girl finished her treatment in July 2023. With her schedule opening up, she was desperate to see her favorite artist perform in person. That artist is Morgan Wallen.
Kenley and Morgan spent some time meeting one another and the singer happily signed anything she wanted. On Kristin Levering’s Instagram, it is seen that Wallen signed both her cowboy hat and a poster she brought. Kenley is beaming in each image, clearly in awe of the experience Morgan Wallen granted her.
“She was treated like a princess from the backstage tour, the access, the takeaways, the general experience,” Kenley’s mom tells Music Mayhem Magazine. “She kept telling me it was her best day ever.” A true connection was made during the time they had together. The meetup was
not rushed and Morgan was present and centered on Kenley the whole time. The country singer was able to make this the “best day ever” for Kenley. This was such a unique and generous experience that not many celebrities would offer.
Kenley Is Displayed At Morgan’s Concert
Beforehand, Kenley and her family made a sign to share at Morgan Wallen’s show at FedEx Field. Her bright pink sign was displayed on the big screen during Morgan Wallen’s song, “Thought You Should Know.” Upon seeing it, the crowd went wild, cheering for the young girl.
Kenley’s poster was labeled “Thought you should know I finished chemo 2b chasing you” in black, bold letters. Her sign was timed perfectly with his song, making this message all the more special. Throughout the whole concert, Morgan Wallen was also wearing a pink #kenleystrong bracelet on his right wrist.
