Reba McEntire Reigns Over The Voice

Blake Shelton might have been the King of NBC’s singing competition The Voice, winning a record nine times in his 23 seasons as coach. But there’s a new ruler in town.

Reba McEntire took over Shelton’s iconic red chair for Season 24. She joins Gwen Stefani, John Legend, and Niall Horan as a coach and mentor for the aspiring singers.

One contestant, Jordan Rainer, faced the queen herself by auditioning with McEntire’s 1990 bombshell hit song, “Fancy.” Click here to read how the four coaches reacted.

Speaking of “Fancy,” Reba McEntire fans will get to hear a stripped-down version of the song on her recently released Not So Fancy album of acoustic takes on some of her biggest hits.

Simple Self-Care Practices She Follows

Along with her new album, Reba McEntire released a lifestyle book of stories and lessons she’s learned in her life and career. Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating and Dusting Off Your Boots hit bookstores on Oct. 10.

Writing books, releasing albums, and presiding over The Voice?! When does the 68-year-old singer have time to relax? She made a stop at NBC’s Today with Hoda & Jenna this week to promote both of her new projects.

Discussing her busy schedule, the hosts asked Reba McEntire how she practices self-care. The “Whoever’s In New England” singer shared her simple habits for self-care: sleep and eating right.

The legendary singer gets eight hours of sleep a night. McEntire shared that she and her boyfriend, Rex Linn, 66, make sure to stretch in the mornings, noting that stretching “limbers everything up,” which she said is important at their age.

The long-time friends have been a couple since 2020, when their friendship turned romantic.

Heartbreaking Reason Reba McEntire Almost Stopped Singing

During the chat with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, Reba McEntire opened up about her new single, “Seven Minutes In Heaven,” which features on her new album.

The song gives a tearjerking account of spending seven minutes in heaven with a departed loved one. For Reba McEntire, that would be her mother.

“If I had seven minutes in Heaven/I know just what I’d do/Take a walk down those golden streets/And find a quiet corner booth,” McEntire sings on the sentimental song

In the music video, Reba McEntire sits in a booth with a red-haired woman only shown from the back. At the end of the video, McEntire mouths, “I love you, Mom,” as a photo of her real-life mother fills the screen.

Jacqueline McEntire died in 2020 at the age of 93.

The “I’m A Survivor” singer almost didn’t survive the loss. She told the TODAY show hosts that she almost quit singing. McEntire shared with the hosts that her sister questioned why she would want to stop singing. “Because I always sang for Mama,” she answered.

As for Jenna Bush Hager, if she could spend seven minutes in heaven, she said she’d spend it with her grandparents, 41st U.S. President George H. W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush.

Reba McEntire ultimately chose to keep singing.
