Although born in a town with over 200 people, Lainey Wilson dreamed of being bigger than Baskin, Louisiana. And she found that opportunity at just nine years old when she attended a performance at the Grand Ole Opry. With the help of her father, who taught her a few cords, the singer took off, and now she holds the award for Album of the Year and Female Artist of the Year. While her dream to be a country music star plays out on stages throughout the country, the singer always remembers where she comes from and the value of giving back. That’s why she recently announced her own fund to help those less fortunate.
Known for her rockstar energy on stage, Lainey Wilson continues to bring a fresh take on country music, only expanding her fanbase. Discussing the future of the music industry, the singer explained how both rock and country are blending. “This new, exciting wave of country music is leaning into how so many country artists — who grew up loving rock ‘n’ roll — are crushing it by trusting the music that we grew up loving and respecting. That’s making for dang good shows with some pizazz.”
Giving Back
With her album, Bell Bottom Country, winning at the CMT Music Awards, Lainey Wilson decided to give back with her new fund named after her hit song Heart Like A Truck. According to the fund, the goal is to offer “vital resources and support to an array of causes, each with a unique story and a shared purpose of creating a brighter, more promising future for individuals and communities in need. This charitable Fund stands as a shining example of the change one heart can bring about in the world.”
Excited about the fund and helping others, Lainey Wilson gushed over her ability to give back. She said, “I’m so excited to be able to finally do this. To be able to give back because that’s what it’s all about and that’s what I’m finally able to do.”
Lainey Wilson Hopes To Fill The Cup
While Lainey Wilson has been touring around the country with musical artist HARDY, she admitted the timing felt right to announce the Heart Like A Truck fund. “The truth is I feel like I’m just in a place where I can do that. I think finding certain organizations and charities I’m passionate about, going to all these different cities, and seeing what the need is will really fill my cup. And we all need a little cup filling.”
