Lauren Alaina was one of the headliners for a Dolly Parton tribute. Why did she abruptly cancel the appearance? Keep reading for all the details.
Dolly Parton Turns 78
When she was 75, Dolly Parton recreated her iconic 1978 Playboy cover photo for her husband’s birthday. The country music legend made headlines in late 2023 by showing major skin in a Dallas Cowboys cheerleading outfit.
What will Dolly Parton do this year? She turned 78 on January 19 and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. In fact, the singer never plans to retire.
Many country music stars gave Dolly a shoutout for her birthday. American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina shared a photo with her idol. “Join me in taking PARTON wishing Dolly a Happy Birthday. We love you and thank you for all that you’ve done to pave the way,” Lauren wrote in the Instagram caption.
Lauren Alaina Abruptly Cancels Appearance At Dolly Parton Tribute
For Dolly Parton’s birthday last year, the Grand Ole Opry presented a special Opry Goes Dolly event to mark the occasion. The event returned for its second year on Dolly’s birthday.
Opry members Lauren Alaina, Terri Clark, Dailey & Vincent, and Don Schlitz were scheduled to perform, along with special guests Elle King, Ashley Monroe, and Tigirlily Gold.
However, hours before Lauren Alaina was set to take the stage, the Ryman announced on social media that she canceled “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
In response to the news, the singer took to her social media to express her regret. She wrote, “I’m so sad to miss the show tonight!”
The singer added, “I live out on country roads & am unable to get off my street,” as an explanation. She further advised her fans to “Stay safe and warm out there.”
Lauren Alaina promised to return to the Grand Ole Opry soon.
Why couldn’t she get off her street?
According to Music Mayhem, the weather in Nashville kept Lauren from performing at Opry Goes Dolly. The area reportedly received over 8 inches of snow in a short period of time. That’s usually how much the Nashville area receives in one year!
Seems like Lauren Alaina had a good excuse for missing the Dolly Parton tribute. Maybe she can return next year for the third annual Opry Goes Dolly event.
