For most people, they often wonder what they would do if they were rich. The thought of having what seems to be an endless supply of funds is a goal shared around the world. While country icon Dolly Parton doesn’t have an endless supply, she is worth a staggering $650 million. A prime example of the rags to riches story, the country singer once recalled what she bought first when the money started to come in and how it backfired on her and the famous RCA Records building.
Considered one of the most famous recording buildings in the world, RCA Studio B played host to legendary artists like David Bowie, The Everly Brothers, Willie Nelson, and Elvis Presley. Needless to say, it is sacred ground in music. And to her surprise, Dolly Parton found herself recording there. Around the same time, the singer noticed her bank account and decided to treat herself to a brand-new car. Raised in a small town, Dolly’s family had eleven children and not a great deal of money. So, a new car was more than new to her – it was the first taste of a different lifestyle. But while the car suited her vibrant style, her skills did not.

“I Never Said A Word”
Appearing on the Country Heat podcast, Dolly Parton remembered rushing to the studio one day, not wanting to miss her time slot. Although passionate about music, the star misjudged the breaking capabilities of her new ride and slammed right into the side of the building. “I was in such a hurry and I wasn’t that good of a driver. And so on the day that we had my session, I just went plowing right into the side of the building. And that building was actually new at the time.”
Making the moment even more comical, Dolly Parton added, “I had bricks falling on my new car. New bricks on my new car. And I didn’t want to stop though, ‘cuz I didn’t want to be late for the session, so I just got out of my car and went on in and did the session.”
Although Dolly Parton made it to her session, her incident soon caught up to her. “Somebody came in at a break and said ‘Somebody has run into the damn building!” The singer admitted, “I never said a word.”
Making Sure The World Never Forgets
Dolly Parton remained silent on the matter, but the staff eventually figured out the culprit. Understanding the situation and star in front of them, the staff decided to commemorate the moment with a plague that hangs there today explaining how the famous Dolly hit it.
