Without question, Keith Urban reigns at the top rung of beloved country music performers. Alas, that most sought-after status takes its toll on family life. Today, in fact, the Brown Eyes Baby singer launches his residency at the Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, as udiscovermusic, Taste Of Country, and Billboard confirm.

As much as Keith Urban loves performing, he thrives on family time, too. Now, with both Sunday, 14, and Faith, 12, at the cusp of young womanhood and making their own independent decisions, time with family becomes an even greater treasure to any mother or father, beyond any measure of wealth. For that reason, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman made choices for some roundabout itineraries for their Christmas holidays, as Country Music Alley related back in January.

This year, March Madness heralds in more than just the most elite players in college basketball. Huge names in country music take the stage at Discovery Green Park in Houston from March 31-April 2. Already, registration is underway for the free-ticketed event. Needless to say, tickets will fly for Keith Urban and every headliner.

A block party and premier artists

Indeed, there is something for everyone at the March Madness Music Festival.  The fun kicks off for fans on March 31 with the AT&T Block Party, with the full lineup of performers and registration details announced later.

Alaska songwriter Maggie Rogers, who also plays anything with strings, leads off the April 1 performances. Lil Nas X closes out the day, and choruses of Old Town Road are sure to resonate through the crowd for a grand finale. Fittingly, the environmentalist and social change activist Rogers makes her stand on the Move stage by Coca-Cola.  Her superb musicianship, energy and insight guarantee that her audiences move, from the outside to the inside, reminiscent of Keith Urban’s style. Also, it doesn’t hurt that both are friends with Pharrell Williams.

To the delight of fans, A-List openers charge into the April 2, Capital One Jamfest. Little Big Town and Mickey Guyton hold the honor of taking the stage before Keith Urban and Tim McGraw. In a sense, this will be like a reunion. Tim McGraw gave Mickey Guyton’s introduction before her moving performance of What Are You Gonna Tell Her? at the 2020 ACM Awards. The following year, Keith Urban and Mickey Guyton served as co-hosts for the ceremony.

Keith reunites with an old friend

Not so coincidentally, Mickey Guyton isn’t the only partner sharing a reunion with Keith Urban. His longtime friend and producer, Dan Huff, already is on board for an album this year.  The hit-making duo behind Golden Road and a stream of other albums promise the emotion of Street Called Main, with palpable emotion, but no pedal steel. Just last month, Urban put out his video for Brown Eyes Baby. The coming collaboration is Keith Urban’s first since the 2020s The Speed Of Now Pt. 1.

Shortly after the release of his buoyant song, Wild Hearts, Keith Urban related how he was enjoying the freedom of releasing single songs and collaborating with buddies like Breland. For his fans’ sake, however, it’s good to go that their favorite artist still regains the mood to create full albums, too.

Globetrotting gets hard

No matter how much an artist loves his or her craft, far-away commitments cause more than fatigue. As Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman both attest, extreme travels breed tension beyond jetlag. At 55, even superstars of this magnitude feel the strain on the body and mind. One of the reasons for making frequent stays in Australia is to allow Nicole to be with her mother and family. At 82, her mother, Janelle needs to celebrate all the memories and milestones possible with her grandchildren. In turn, Nicole savors the perspective of her mother.

Last year, Nicole Kidman confessed that she’s looking at options and the future more through Janelle’s eyes, as Now To Love per MSN relates. Nonetheless, no matter how much Keith Urban pleads for his wife to take a breather from being there for everyone, projects keep coming, like the thriller starring alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in a Patricia Cromwell adaptation for Amazon Prime Video.

Thank goodness, Christmas comes again every year. Unlike their girls, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman don’t get spring breaks. Even so, they both know every moment together is priceless.

Keep up with all the projects keeping Keith Urban busy on Country Music Alley.
