Tim McGraw is one of the most esteemed singers in the country music genre. But he’s not only known just for his songs. It’s hard to think of him without thinking of his wife of more than 20 years, songstress Faith Hill.
In a new interview, Tim McGraw comments on the longevity of their relationship, but did he inadvertently dog his marriage? Keep reading to find out what he said.
The Makings of a Country Supercouple
Tim McGraw made his debut in the country scene in 1991. However, he didn’t reach the top of the charts until 1994’s mega-hit, “Don’t Take the Girl.”
Meanwhile, Faith Hill rocketed to the top of the charts in 1993 with “Wild One,” her very first single. According to Music Mayhem, the two first met in Nashville in 1994, but they didn’t pursue a relationship until a few years later.
In 1996, Faith Hill was the opening act on Tim McGraw’s tour, and the rest is history.
The two quickly wed later that year and share three children together: Gracie, 26, Maggie, 24, and Audrey, 21.
Tim McGraw Dogs Marriage to Faith Hill?
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been married for a long time. In fact, they will celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary in October. In a new interview, the “Live Like You Were Dying” singer spoke about his relationship. Did Tim McGraw dog his marriage to Faith Hill?
No, but he did jokingly compare it to Hollywood marriages. He told Entertainment Tonight Canada that their 27 years was more like 96. “It’s almost like dog years,” he cracked.
When it came to sharing the key to a long marriage, McGraw said that they made a pact at the beginning that they “wouldn’t just walk out the door when problems arose.”
Whatever the two decided on, it seems to be working. Not only is their marriage thriving, they both recently tried their hand at acting. McGraw and Hill were the leads on the Yellowstone spin-off, 1883.
Fans were disappointed to find out that there won’t be a second season of the show. Instead, the Yellowstone franchise seems to be focusing on 1923, another spin-off starring Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford.
Does He Regret Raising Strong, Independent Daughters?
In the interview, Tim McGraw opened up about raising three girls with Faith Hill. He told the outlet that they planned to raise daughters who were “strong, independent, and fierce.” But now that they’re older, does he regret that decision?
He told ET that there were times he said to himself, ‘Dang, do we want them to be that independent and strong?’ But ultimately, he said they are “so proud” of their daughters.
