Wynonna Judd Teams Up With Kelly Clarkson For Holiday Song

‘Tis the season of televised Christmas concerts! A week after hosting the Christmas in Rockefeller Center special, Kelly Clarkson headed to Nashville to perform at Christmas at the Opry.

Wynonna Judd was the host with the most, performing several Christmas songs throughout the evening.

The two powerhouse singers joined together in a stunning rendition of the holiday classic “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town.”

But another legend stole the show. Brenda Lee took the stage to perform her iconic song “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” She was just 13 years old when the song was released in 1958.

Sixty-five years later, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time. PEOPLE magazine shared the sweet news that Mariah Carey, the unofficial Queen of Christmas, sent flowers to Lee for the huge milestone.

The outlet notes that 78-year-old Brenda Lee now has the distinction of being the oldest woman to top the Hot 100 charts.

That honor was previously held by Mariah Carey, who hit No. 1 at 53 with her song “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

Christmas at the Opry is still available to stream on Peacock.

Despite bringing holiday cheer to the Grand Ole Opry, Wynonna and her sister Ashley Judd have had a rough few years. Their mother, legendary singer Naomi Judd, passed away in April 2022.

Wynonna and Naomi recorded and toured together for many years as The Judds. In fact, they were supposed to start a new tour later in 2022.

After her mother’s death, Wynonna honored ticket holders by performing the tour with a series of special guests. Once that tour was completed, she embarked on a solo tour called Back to Wy.

That tour wrapped in at the beginning of December and her sister was at the last tour stop.

Actress Ashley Judd took to her Instagram to share an emotional tribute to her “big sister.”

The long missive began, “My protector who powdered me when I was an infant, let me do her Civics homework when I was in 6th grade (which made me feel “big”), who taught me how to drive (it was a 1957 Chevy), with whom I compared mosquito bites after we played in eastern Kentucky creeks looking for crawdads.”

“Oh, yes — she happened to sing some, too.”

Ashley went on to reveal that her favorite songs were the ones “Mama” wrote. She went on to thank her sister’s fans for “helping to give her life purpose and meaning, and for recognizing that she’s indeed the G.O.A.T.”
