Long-time country music star Wynonna Judd is joining NBC’s The Voice. Keep reading for all the details on her latest career move.
Wynonna Judd Healing After Huge Loss
In late April 2022, the entertainment industry was shocked by the sudden passing of Naomi Judd. In addition to being a famous country singer, Naomi Judd was an actress with over 22 credits on her IMDb page.
The most recent credits before her death were a Hallmark movie in 2013 and Lifetime’s adaptation of V.C. Andrews’ Landry family book series.
If Judd’s passing came as a shock to the rest of the world, it’s unimaginable how her daughters, Wynonna and Ashley, felt.
Ashley Judd has turned her grief into raising awareness for mental health issues and suicide prevention.
Her older sister, Wynonna Judd, is a country music legend in her own right. Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, Naomi and Wynonna Judd performed as a duo. The Judds were one of the most successful duos in country music history but disbanded in 1991 after Naomi Judd was diagnosed with hepatitis C.
Wynonna Judd went on to create a solo career for herself under the mononym Wynonna.
Before her mother’s untimely passing, The Judds were planning another tour dubbed The Judds’ Final Tour.
Wynonna went ahead and performed every single tour date with special guests after her mom’s passing to honor both her mother and their fans.
The singer found healing in performing and kicked off a 15-date solo tour, Back To Wy, on Oct. 26.
The Judds Tribute Album
In addition to touring, Wynonna Judd gathered a star-studded list of her friends to honor her mother with a tribute album. On A Tribute to the Judds, Wynonna and other greats, including Dolly Parton, Trisha Yearwood, and Lainey Wilson, cover some of the most popular songs in The Judds’ extensive discography.

Wynonna Judd Joining The Voice
Between her tour and new album, Wynonna Judd has a lot going on. However, she continues to make new moves by joining The Voice. She will appear in Season 24 as a ‘mega mentor’ once the contestants move past the battle rounds.
The Wrap notes that new coach Reba McEntire was a ‘mega mentor’ for Season 23 before returning as a main coach for Season 24.
The Voice has undergone a big shakeup in the last few seasons. The “Fancy” singer replaced long-time coach Blake Shelton after he left the show. Additionally, former coach Kelly Clarkson cut ties with the singing competition.
