Gets emotional about Subject to Change

On Friday, September 23, Kelsea Ballerini took to Instagram to write an emotional post dedicated to her fans. She included several clips from her current album era, which features butterflies, pastel colors, and the singer twirling around in a beautiful yellow dress. Kelsea admitted that it’s been hard for her to grow and mature. However, Subject to Change has been two years in the making as it covers the reflections on the current state of her life.

“i’m proud of this record and the story it tells. here’s my last two years, and here’s the turning of a page,” Kelsea Ballerini captioned the post. “SUBJECT TO CHANGE IS OUT NOW.”

She got a lot of support from her famous friends. Shania Twain wrote, “Congratulations Kelsea!!! Phenomenal talent. ❤️” As Country Music Alley previously reported, Kelsea paid tribute to the iconic country queen at the ACM Honors ceremony. Her fans couldn’t stop commenting about how good the album was.

Kelsea Ballerini pulls from life experience

In an interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Kelsea Ballerini struggled with the idea of making her lyrics vague. However, it was important for her to lay it out there and pull from her own life experiences. She addresses everything such as her marriage to her fallout with pop star Halsey and her Twitter feud with Morgan Wallen.

She wanted to set the record straight on everything happening in her life. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Kelsea wanted to create a “very inward, very personal” record that she could share with her fans. In late August, Kelsea and Morgan Evans split after five years of marriage.

She references him in her new album. Yet, she also talks about her feud with Hasley on her track “Doin’ My Best.” It’s a reflective song about how she’s still learning and that she’s not a perfect person. In an interview with Consequence, Kelsea hinted that she is “a human and life is messy and there are some things that I wanted to take ownership for.”

Might make people uncomfortable?

Kelsea Ballerini doesn’t use names in her songs. However, she admitted that “there are songs on this record that I’m a little nervous for people to hear.” In “Doin’ My Best,” she talked about leaving Twitter. She referenced her 2021 feud with Morgan Wallen after a video of him saying the N-word surfaced.

“Marilyn” is also her second most personal track after “Doin’ My Best.” Kelsea Ballerini calls it a “metaphor” for a “woman who presents herself one way, and deeply feels another.” She thinks it’s relatable to the social media age. When it comes to her marriage, she talks about them going through therapy and hints about a partner changing their mind about her.
