Labeled as the Queen of Country Pop, Shania Twain’s time on the stage garnered her more than fans. Over the course of her career, the country singer received five Grammy Awards with another two World Music Awards. That doesn’t even scratch the surface when it comes to her showmanship. Looking at just her concert tours, Twain made a little over $420 million. That makes her the highest-grossing female country artist on tour.
With Twain able to captivate an audience and boost ticket sales, it seemed like a match made in heaven when she found herself singing on stage with the Foo Fighters. With thousands in attendance, the crowd, to put it nicely, was shocked by what happened when Twain started singing “Best of You.”
Kicking off over the weekend, the Austin City Music Festival welcomed top stars like Kendrick Lamar, The Lumineers, Mumford and Sons, and of course, Foo Fighters, and Shania Twain. With such top talent in attendance, the packed crowd believed they were in for a show. Before Foo Fighters even took the stage, Shania Twain entertained the crowd with numerous songs from her discography.
For some time, Twain excused herself from the music industry due to her fighting Lyme disease. But over the weekend, fans cheered her on as she set the tone. After performing, Foo Fighters took the stage to play a few of their songs.
Fans Weigh In
Towards the end of their set, Foo Fighters started to play their famous 2005 song, “Best of You,” when Shania Twain emerged on the stage wearing a red wig. After hugging lead singer Dave Grohl, Twain decided to lend a hand when it came to the chorus, and well – take a look for yourself.

Although Shania Twain has fans all over the world, comments surrounding her performance with the Foo Fighters didn’t go over so well. Just a few comments read, “To be honest, this has to be the worst I have ever heard. Sorry Shania but you sounded terribly off key and you certainly did not know the words.”
One person noted, “It’s always super cool when artists make guest appearances with other acts at festivals but not this time.”
Instead of harping on the performance, one fan decided to take a different approach with some sound advice. “Love The Foo Fighters. I love Shania too but I think maybe if she just sung the song how Dave did with the melody like in harmony with him instead of doing her own thing it would’ve been better Everyone has their good performances as well as not the greatest.”
Shania Twain Talks Lyme Disease
As mentioned above, Shania Twain battled Lyme disease since 2003 after being bitten by a tick. Discussing some of the symptoms, she said, “My voice was never the same again. I thought I’d lost my voice forever.”
In another interview, she added, “It was a good 6 or 7 years before a doctor was able to find out that I had sustained nerve damage to my vocal cords, directly caused by Lyme disease.”
