Newfound famous singer, Oliver Anthony, is receiving backlash for changing venues and dates on his recent concert, despite his good intentions.
Oliver Anthony Fires Against High Ticket Prices
Oliver had a recent disagreement with a company after he found out they were charging his tickets much higher than he originally planned. Here is what he had to say about that:
“Please don’t pay $90 for a ticket. I’m going to work out the details with him and if we have to reschedule this event somewhere else we will.”
“It’s also horsesh*t that they’re charging extra for VIP meet and greet. Those are supposed to be free. I will get this sorted out asap. Dont buy any tickets until then.”

Ticket Demands Go Through The Roof
After Oliver Anthony lowered prices for his show, tickets sold out in two hours, according to a Facebook post. Instead of the $200 tickets, Oliver instead only charged $25. With the high volume of attendees, the country singer decided to book an even larger venue. Initially, the concert was meant to take place in the Knoxville Convention Center on the 29th of September.
Instead, the songwriter will perform on September 28th, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. in the Smokies Stadium in Knoxville, TN. The entire venue will likely be packed. There simply was not enough room for everyone who wanted so desperately to attend, and Oliver listened and acted. Though the date had changed, Oliver was quick to offer refunds to those who could no longer make it.
Fans Bite Back
Despite the good intentions, some fans are disappointed with this sudden change. Here is what Facebook commentators have to say:
Robert Frush, who is rated a top fan: “I’m not close enough to attend, but I agree with a bunch of folks in the comments. Attending these events takes lots of planning for most people. I’m in agreement that instead of canceling one, and moving it, you should have just done 2 shows, even if was at the same location”
Chris Kennedy, another top fan: “Play both shows man. This change of plans will affect a lot of people who planned on coming to the sold out Friday night show at the convention center. Knoxville showed up and bought your tickets just do them right.”
Stephanie Denise Kellog: “You shouldn’t have done this. I understand why you did, but so many people take off work, have sitters for their children already lined up and hotel booked, etc. Now that you changed the date, those people may not be able to change their plans. I would’ve not changed date and let everyone know next year it will bigger and better.”
Some fans are also urging Oliver Anthony to sign with an agent to help him organize these sorts of things and avoid constant rescheduling and price changes. What are your thoughts? Should he have played two shows?
