Oliver Anthony, one of the biggest names in music right now, is finally taking the stage in Nashville, TN. However, it’s not as grand as you may think.
Short History On Oliver Anthony
Just over a month ago, Oliver Anthony was a name that very few knew. It all started when the 31-year-old artist’s song “Rich Men North Of Richmond” blew up on YouTube, breaking record charts in a matter of hours. Since August 8th, 2023, the date that the video was uploaded, Oliver Anthony’s career has continued to grow at an incredible rate. The artist has already released and/or teased a handful of other songs. However, the artist has yet to do many public performances.
Oliver Anthony And Jamey Johnson’s Previous History
During one of the only public performances seen by Oliver thus far, country star Jamey Johnson makes a surprise appearance. This hit concert took place at the Morris Farmer’s Market in Currituck, North Carolina. What was expected to be a small event ended up having a huge turnout. One of the attendees just happened to be 48-year-old celebrity Jamey Johnson. He joined Oliver on the stage to sing one of his songs, “In Color.”

Since this point, the two songwriters have only gotten closer. Before fans knew it, they took the stage together once more. This time, not only did they Reprise “In Color,” they also sang “Rich Men North Of Richmond” together.
Oliver Anthony Finally Reaches Nashville
Instead of going the traditional route and visiting the Grand Ole Opry, Christopher Anthony Lunsford (Anthony’s real name) is starting out small. Oliver decided to start light at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge’s 62nd birthday bash. The location is located in Lower Broadway in Nashville, TN. Many big names also attended, such as Montgomery Gentry, Wheeler Walker Jr., Lee Brice, Randy Houser, and of course, Jamey Johnson. With that lineup, tickets sold out in no time.
During the September 17th concert, Oliver Anthony and Jamey once again performed hand in hand, this time joined by Randy Houser. Randy, Johnson, and Anthony sang the hit “In Color” as a group. Then, Jamey and Oliver sang “Rich Men North Of Richmond.” It was an inspiring moment to see Jamey Johnson singing Oliver’s song instead of the other way around. That goes to show how quickly one’s status and fame can change.

Oliver Anthony is likely to go to bigger and bigger venues. With the turnout received, there simply is not enough space in these smaller venues to fit all the fans that want to attend. It is admirable that the artist is remaining humble by doing smaller concerts, but that means not everyone who wants to see Oliver live will be granted that wish.
Will the celebrity continue to branch out and accept his astounding fame? When will he be on stage next?
